French President Emmanuel Macron said during a visit to Greenland to provide support to the Arctic Island on Sunday that Russia lacks credibility to mediate the crisis between Israel and Iran, as suggested by US President Donald Trump.
In an interview with ABC News on Sunday, Trump said he was open to Russian President Vladimir Putin – whose forces invaded Ukraine in 2022 and resisted Trump’s attempts to mediate the ceasefire with Kiev – between Israel and Iran. Macron said he rejected such an idea.
“I do not think that Russia, which is now participating in a high -density conflict and has decided not to respect the United Nations Charter for several years so far, could be a mediator,” he said.
Macron also said that France did not participate in any of the Israeli attacks against Iran.
The French leader was visiting Greenland-which is part of the autonomous Denmark who was entitled to declare independence that Trump threatened to take over-before a trip to Canada for the summit of the Group of Seven leaders.

At a press conference alongside Danish Prime Minister Metty Friedriksen and Jeans Friedrich Nielsen, Prime Minister in Greenland, Macron said that the island was threatened by “predatory ambition” and that its situation was a call to wake up to all Europeans.
“I think there is a way to move forward in order to build a better future in cooperation and not in provocation or confrontation,” he said.
However, Macron said he eventually suspects the United States will invade Greenland.
“I don’t think, in the end, the United States, an ally and friend, will do something aggressive against another ally,” he said, adding that “the United States of America is still participating in NATO and our main and historical alliances.”
Trump said he wanted the United States to take over the Metal -rich Arctic Island, and he did not rule out power.
Its vice president, JD Vance, visited an American military base there in March. Macron is the first foreign leader to visit Greenland since Trump’s explicit threats to “obtain” the island.
According to IFOP, NYC.EU was published on Saturday, 77 percent of the French and 56 percent of Americans do not agree to the annexation of Greenland by the United States, and 43 percent of the French will return using French military force to prevent the American invasion.
After Trump’s threats, Friedriksen from Denmark made several visits to Paris to search for French and European support and provided orders for French surface missiles from manufacture, in a shift in focusing on Copenhagen.
