French President Emmanuel Macron admitted on Tuesday that France launched a “war” in Cameroon during and after moving it in the late 1950s, which included “repressive violence” in a letter to Cameroonian President Paul Pia. Admission follows the report of a French government that explains in detail collective displacement and brutal repression while pushing Cameroon for independence.
