M&M is the second largest car manufacturer for the third month in a row in April; Tata Motors and Hyundai India Trail

Maahindra & Maahindra, the country’s largest sport factory (SUV), became the second largest car manufacturer for the third month in a row in April. The company has seen 28 % increase on an annual basis in total sales to 52330 units in the local market and 54,860 cars in general, including exports.

“Based on the strong momentum of the performance of last year, we started the year with a strong note in April by achieving the sales of 52330 units, 28 % growth and the total vehicle sales of 84,170 units, and 19 % growth during the same month in the past year. These numbers indicate the strength of our wallet and customer shows,” says Veejay Nakra, President, Mold.

On the other hand, Tata Motors witnessed a 5 % decrease on an annual basis to 45,532 units compared to 47,983 units in the same period last year. In the local market, the Nexon manufacturer witnessed a 6 % decrease on an annual basis to 45,199 units compared to 47883 units in the same period last year.

Hyundai Motor India, which was feeling the heat of the competition recently, witnessed a 8.9 % decrease on an annual basis to 44,374 units in the local market. Tatta Motors and Hyundai Motor India were behind Mahindra & Mahindra at about 7000 and 8,000 units, respectively.

Meanwhile, Maruti Suzuki India Limited witnessed an increase of 6.96 % year on year to 179,791 units in April this year, compared to 168,089 units in the same period last year.
