Lyon Drissaite, NHLPA donated 29 sets of hockey equipment for the novice hockey team in Cologne, Germany

German hockey star Lyon Drissile Its roots return by donating 58 groups of hockey equipment for his former team, which is Kölner Haie “Junghaie”, through the NHL Players Association.

The donation, presented by Draisaitl and NHLPA, will provide a full range of equipment for 29 young players in Junghaie in the seasons of 2025-26 and 2026-27, which helps to equip the next generation of German hockey talents.

Draisaitl, which plays for Edmonton OilsHe developed his hockey’s love playing in the Colinner Hai youth program when he was a teenager before reaching the NHL.

“I learned how to play here. I learned how to ski in this club and you know that there are many people who helped me reach what I am today and you know that I never want to forget where I came from.”

“I think this is something I have always lived in my whole life. As you know, a lot for me is to return something to the people and the institution that, as you know, was outside my back.”

Lyon Drissile was in his hometown in Cologne, where he spent more than six years developing his game, including with the U16 team.

Junghaie, the novice hockey program in Kölner Haie, includes membership of about 300 players between the ages of 4 and 20.

This cooperation between Draisaitl and the NHLPA Forms & Dreams initiative directly will be 29 young hockey players in Cologne during the next two seasons. Nhlpa CEO Marti Walsh said:

NHLPA goals and dreams continue to make hockey more easier in the world by providing equipment and resources for the needy.

This donation effort continues to reduce hockey costs for youth through care, donations and general financing. Draisaitl and NHLPA TOWS & Dreams 58 have donated a full set of equipment group for two seasons, which will be reused annually by the new Junghaie players between the ages of 5 and 7 to help make this sport easier.
