Billy stressed that Liverpool could still sign Guehi, but the matter no longer seemed as clear as it was in the summer.

“The slate has been wiped clean with Guehi. This is a new transfer. What was done, said or shown before has now been forgotten,” the journalist told TBR Football.

“That’s what I’ve been told. Every club that wants Guehi started from the same place. Maybe this suggests Liverpool don’t have the advantage as some had previously thought, but again, it doesn’t mean he won’t end up at Anfield.

“Guehi stands out as one of Bosman’s most sought-after free agent signings ever, and there is not a major club in Europe that is not keen on him.”

Where should Mark Guehi go next?

Guehi is clearly one of the best centre-backs and would have elite selection in Europe if he moved at the end of his contract.

But what is the best move for him? It’s likely to be a tough decision when it comes to so many big names.

Striking the balance between playing regularly and competing for the biggest prizes, Liverpool look like they will tick all the boxes.

But Guehi may want to move abroad, and it would be difficult to say no to the likes of Real Madrid, Barcelona and Bayern Munich.
