Leblanc has a “construction” meeting with our counterpart with the continuation of commercial conversations

The minister’s office said that the Minister of Trade of Canada-the United States of America, Dominic Lieblank, held a “building (f)) meeting with US Minister of Trade Howard Lottenic in Washington on Tuesday morning.

The meeting comes at a time when the two countries have not reached a kind of commercial agreement since US President Donald Trump began his identification campaign after returning to the White House in January.

A Canadian source told CBC News that the two meeting between the two was supposed to last for an hour, but he went for 90 minutes. The source said that there is a feeling of optimism on the Canadian side after the meeting.

Prime Minister Mark Carney announced last Friday that Canada will drop some reprisal tariffs on American products to match the American tariff exemptions that include the Canada-USA Convention on Trade, called CUSMA.

The anti -Canada tankers will remain on steel, aluminum and cars.

Trump raised the definitions of Canadian goods that are not compatible with CUSMA to 35 percent earlier this month. But the president struck some Canadian goods, such as soft wood, steel, aluminum, and some auto parts with more fees received for import, whether they are under the umbrella of the trade agreement or not.

Lieblank said the retaliatory definitions were a great attached point in negotiations before US President Donald Trump’s decision to increase the fees in Canada to 35 percent earlier this month.

“These are the areas that we focus on improving results if we can. In order to do this … we will have to look at other areas where we can obtain a profitable cooperation for both sides,” the Prime Minister told reporters.

Carney Mexico is scheduled to visit next month, as countries are trying to move in trade relations with the United States. Mexico and Canada have been definitions and identification threats from Trump since he was re -elected last fall.

While Trump increased customs tariffs on the non -compatible goods from Canada earlier this month, he exempt Mexico at the present time.

Since his election, Carney said he wanted to expand relations with other countries to avoid relying on the United States

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Anita Anand and Finance Minister Francois Philip, said they “start” a bilateral economic relationship with Mexico during a visit to the country’s capital earlier this month.

Carney’s visit also comes as a CUSMA review quickly. The commercial deal – which was signed in 2018 and entered into force in 2020 – in the review of next year.
