The party announced that the Social Democratic Party, Lars, has been exploited to become the next Minister of Finance in Germany in the upcoming central coalition government, to replace Joerg Kukies.

Klingbeil was also chosen to take over the position of the deputy advisor.

“The committee has been assigned to Lars Klin Gypsum today to assign Lars Klingbeil to assign the vice president of the advisor and enter the new government as a federal finance minister.”

Miersch said that Klingbeil will also be responsible for creating the remaining SPD team to serve in the framework of the new alliance by early next week. He was speaking after the Democratic Democratic Party members voted in favor of the coalition agreement between their party and the right -wing party in the German Center, the Christian Democratic Union, along with its brotherly party, the Christian Social Union.

The 47 -year -old Klingbeil has no extensive experience in the financial field, but it has been a leader who has participated in the party since 2021 and was elected as head of the SPD parliamentary faction in early 2025.

During and after his time as a student in political science, sociology and history at Hanover University, Klingbeil worked at the offices of the Electoral Department for members of Parliament, including then adviser Gerahard Schroeder. He was also a deputy leader of the SPD youth organization, and took over various regional political roles.

Klingbeil is widely considered part of the most conservative wing of SPD, and calls for an increase in the minimum wage and reforms of the German pension policy in modern interviews, as well as staying open to the higher tax option. He also supported the army’s strengthening and modernization of infrastructure, while criticizing the policy of tariffs for US President Donald Trump.

Besides politics, Klingbeil was a player in the thirsty guitar in rock bands for years and sits in the FC Bayern Munich’s advisory council – a club that has long been supported.

The other major ministers who were appointed to be part of the incoming government were also chosen. This includes Catherina Reish, Minister of Economy, Johan and Ediol, as Minister of Foreign Affairs, both of whom are scheduled to represent CDU in the new administration.

The CDU-CSU Federation won the largest share of votes in the federal elections in Germany in February, which made CDU leader Friedrich Mirz the appointed advisor. This role is scheduled to be officially assumed early next week, pending the vote.

Germany’s elections were held several months before the planned, after the previous ruling coalition collapsed due to tensions throughout the country’s budget and economic policies.

The ruling coalition will face several great tasks, as Germany is wrestling with a stagnant economy, local infrastructure issues, trade tensions associated with American tariff policies and pressure on European allies to expand their military capabilities.

Even before finalizing the coalition agreement, CDU-CSU and SPD led the changes in the boundary bases in Germany and the construction of 500 billion euros ($ 569 billion) of the infrastructure and climate fund.

As Minister of Finance, Klingbeil is scheduled to occupy a pioneering position in the implementation of these financial moves, which was a major policy for Germany. While development was widely received as positive for the country, economists have suggested that many will also depend on how changes are actually operating.
