Kylian Mbappe downplayed his record at Real Madrid compared to Cristiano Ronaldo’s and revealed that he is receiving advice from the Portuguese star.
Mbappe scored 44 goals in 59 matches in all competitions during his first year in the Spanish capital, and made a strong start to the 2025/26 season, scoring 14 goals in just 10 matches.
Ronaldo notched 33 goals in his first year at Madrid, but Mbappe shrugged his shoulders when asked to compare his efforts to Ronaldo’s.
“Yes, but he did it for nine years and I only did it for a year and a half,” the France captain told Movistar.

Ronaldo scored an impressive 451 goals in 438 competitive appearances for Real Madrid, as the club battled for supremacy in Spain and Europe with Lionel Messi’s Barcelona.
“I think he is the number one player in Madrid, he is the reference player for Madrid who has done a lot of things,” Mbappe added about the 40-year-old, who continues to score goals regularly for Portugal and Al-Nasr. “People, even today, dream about him and all the things he did.
“I want to chart my own path and I hope people will dream of me in the same way, which could be a historic moment for me.”

Mbappe has never hidden the fact that Ronaldo was his idol growing up, with the 26-year-old having posters on his bedroom wall of the former Manchester United and Juventus star.
He now admits that he is lucky enough to consider Ronaldo a mentor who is willing to share knowledge and experiences with Mbappe.
He said: “Cristiano Ronaldo has always been a role model for me, a role model for me. I have the opportunity to talk to him, he gives me advice, he helps me… He is number one for me.”
