Officials said that the Ukrainian capital in Kiev had noticed an official day of mourning on Friday, a day after a Russian attack and rockets on the city were 31 people, including five children, and wounded more than 150.

The smallest victim in Thursday strikes Ukrainian President Folodimir Zelinski said 16 of the injured were children.

This was the largest number of children who were killed and injured in one attack on Kiev since the air attacks on the city began in October 2022, according to the official figures of the victims reported by the Associated Press. It was also a bloody attack on the city since July last year, when 33 were killed.

The number of deaths increased overnight, as emergency crews continued to dig through the rubble. Officials said that the Russian barrage destroyed a large part of a nine -storey residential building in the city, while more than 100 other buildings were damaged, including homes, schools, kindergartens, medical facilities and universities.

Russia has escalated its attacks on Ukrainian cities in recent months, ignoring the calls of Western leaders, including US President Donald Trump, to stop hitting civilian areas after more than three years of war.

Russian forces are also pressing with their attrition war along the 1,000 -km front line, as gradual gains came during the past year at the cost of thousands of soldiers on both sides.

Ukraine wants more sanctions on Russia

Zelinski said that in July, Russia fired more than 5,100 sliding bombs, more than 3800 drones and about 260 missiles of various types, and 128 balls, against Ukraine.

He reiterated his call to countries to impose heavier economic sanctions on Russia to deter the Kremlin, as the US -led peace efforts failed to obtain strength.

“Regardless of the Kremlin (penalties”, they work and they must be stronger, “Zelinski said.

“I was shocking,” says one of Kyiv’s residents after fatal Russian strikes.

Rescuers rushed to a deadly Russian attack on Thursday after a plane hit drones and apartment missiles.

His comments appear on Friday, in response to Trump’s statements the previous day, when the Republican President said that the United States is planning to impose sanctions on Russia, but added: “I do not know that the sanctions are disturbed,” referring to Russian President Vladimir Putin.

In April, Trump urged the Russian leader to “stop!” After an air attack on Kyiv 12 has been killed in what was a bloody attack on the city since July 2024.

“Let’s accomplish the peace deal!” Trump said in a position on the social truth platform at that time, but Russia has not hidden its wealth. Earlier this week, Trump gave Putin until August 8 to stop the fighting.

These demands did not convince the Kremlin to change the strategy. Putin said on Friday that the conditions launched by Moscow last year for the long -term ceasefire agreement are still in place. Putin has previously made it clear that he would only accept a settlement on his terms and continue to fight until he is confronted.

“Any disappointments arise from excessive expectations,” Putin said of the negotiations. Trump did not mention the name.

Putin said he considered the last direct talks in Istanbul between delegations from Russia and Ukraine valuable, although they have not made any progress beyond the exchange of prisoners of war, and did not indicate the deadline imposed by Trump next week.

Putin said Russia began to produce its latest high -sound missile. He said that the multiple warheads of Urichnik are sliding into a target at speeds of up to Mach 10 and cannot be stopped by air defenses.

In an attempt to push Putin to accept a “full, immediate and unconditional” fire, foreign and unconditional “ceasefire.”

Russian forces bears a major Ukrainian city

Meanwhile, the Ukrainian forces are under severe pressure in the strategic city of Chasif Yar in the East Yar region, in the eastern Donetsk region, where Russia is pushing a concert to break the defenses after about 18 months of fighting.

Zelinski said that the Russian allegations of the seizure of Shassif Yar on Thursday were “misleading information”.

“The Ukrainian units occupy our positions,” Zelinski said in the daily video title Thursday evening. “This is not easy, but this is the defense of the right of Ukrainians to life.”

However, the Institute of War Study The Decade of Ukraine on the main city is weakness.

“Russian forces are likely to complete the seizure of Chasif Yar in the coming days, which will open many possible ways for the Russian forces to attack the Ukraine Castle-a series of fortified cities that make up the backbone of the defense sites in Ukraine” in the Donetsk region, according to Washington’s thinking.

Ukraine tried to pressure the Russian army by hitting the back areas with long -term drones targeting railways, oil warehouses and messages.

The Russian Ministry of Defense said on Friday that the air defenses fell 60 Ukrainian drones overnight. She said that more than half of them were destroyed on the Russian Baljuod region on the country’s borders with Ukraine. The governor of Baljuod Fayschelav Grakarouf said that one person was injured.

Meanwhile, the Ukrainian Air Force said, at the same time, that it had shot down 44 out of 72 Russian aircraft that were launched overnight. There were no immediate reports on losses or damage.
