Bournemouth ended Newcastle’s nine-game winning streak with an impressive away performance with a 4-1 win at St James’ Park.

Justin Kluivert scored a stunning hat-trick before Milos Kerkez added a fourth as Andoni Iraola’s men recovered from Bruno Guimarães’ first-half equalizer to give the visitors a deserved victory.

The Cherries extended their unbeaten run to 11 matches in all competitions with the win, moving them up to sixth in the table for the time being at least.

Result of the match between Newcastle and Bournemouth

Newcastle were the outstanding team in the Premier League heading into kick-off, but Bournemouth caught the hosts off guard early, producing a number of cross-goal chances in the opening stages.

They got the goal their pressing deserved six minutes later when Antoine Semenyu found space down the left before Kluivert curled the ball into the bottom corner.

The Magpies looked to be struggling to get going, but found themselves on level terms at their simplest when Bruno Guimarães found a free header from a Lewis Hall corner to equalize in an unsurprisingly entertaining start.

Newcastle looked to have the momentum but were caught out again when Semenyu once again unleashed Kluivert, who slotted another past Martin Dubravka and restored Bournemouth’s lead.

The frenetic nature of the game continued into the second half, although Bournemouth remained the biggest threat in front of goal as the Toon struggled to find the advantage they previously had.

Bournemouth thought they deserved to go 3-1 ahead through Danjo Ouattara, but after a VAR review, the goal was disallowed after the ball went out of play during the build-up.

Newcastle were lucky again when David Brooks’ touch from Semenyu’s cross struck Tino Liveramento and bounced off the post.

A tense scoreline followed before Bormouth began to celebrate a well-deserved win when Kluivert brilliantly completed his hat-trick with a long-range shot that left Dubravka on the ground.

Anthony Gordon was denied the chance of a late shock comeback when his effort was blocked on the line.

But it was really confirmed that it was Bournemouth’s day when Kirkese raced down the other end before throwing in a move and clinically scoring.
