Keegan-Michael Key teases two top-secret projects for 2025

In 2024, Key showed off his impressive collection across multiple entertainment platforms. One notable moment was his performance as the voice of B-127, also known as Bumblebee, in the animated prequel film “Transformers One,” which debuted in theaters on September 20. The role was especially meaningful to Key, who described it as a “complete” “circular moment” that took him back to his childhood love of the popular 1980s “Transformers” series.

After his successful year, Keegan-Michael Key is looking forward to what he plans to accomplish in 2025.

In a recent interview with People magazinethe 53-year-old actor and comedian revealed that he’s currently working on two top-secret “bucket list” projects — and while he hasn’t divulged all the details just yet, he’s offering some interesting hints.

“I don’t know how to answer without saying things I can’t say,” Key admitted with a laugh. “If I could only tell you.”

What he can say is that these projects represent new territory for him.

“I have two projects in development that I’m very excited about. “They’re both checks on my bucket list,” Key shared. “One goes in the direction of the sports world, one goes in the business direction, which is very different from a lot of the work I’ve done in the past.”

For Key, 2025 looks set to be a breakout year. “I have a good feeling this (will be my year),” he said confidently. “We’ll see how it goes.”

While Key is keeping his “bucket list” projects under wraps, he has plenty of other exciting projects, including “Play Dirty,” a film directed by Shane Black. “Whenever we get a chance to see each other, we do it,” Key said. “Whenever we get the chance.”

Key explained that Bill is often one of the first people he reaches out to when he’s in Los Angeles. “I definitely enjoy spending time with him, so when my travels take me to L.A., he’s usually one of the first calls I make. I land, and I say, ‘Dude, we’re in town,’ and we often have dinner.”

Communication between the pair appears to be easy, according to Key. He explained: “Our relationship is like that of a good friend, where you can pick up where you left off, or the little things you shared in the past, just go back to it again.”

Fans will be happy to know that the duo doesn’t let time or distance affect their friendship. Key even hinted at an upcoming reunion, adding: “I’m looking forward to seeing him in 2025.”
