The Princess of Wales interacted warmly with well-wishers who praised her resilience and welcomed her return to her royal duties.
Kate Middleton has since spoken about her battle with cancer, and revealed that she has completed chemotherapy.

Kate Middleton is returning to royal tradition with family on a Christmas tour at Sandringham

Kate returned to the spotlight for the first time since her cancer diagnosis to walk alongside husband William and their children Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, 9, and Prince Louis, 6, on their annual Christmas walk to St. Louis. Mary Magdalene Church in Sandringham.
The walk, which has become one of Kate’s favorite royal traditions, also marks her return to royal duties as it was her first official interaction with the public.
It was a happy moment for the princess as she personally interacted with her well-wishers, receiving hugs, handshakes and heartfelt birthday wishes.

At one point, Kate was the only member of the royal family to remain on the tour. William and the children waited for her to finish interacting with the audience before they could return to Sandringham for Christmas lunch.

The French teacher traveled to Sandringham to show support for the Princess

One of the well-wishers who came to wish Kate a happy birthday in person was Louis Beauchamp, an English teacher from Paris.
talking to People magazineBeauchamp said he first met the Princess of Wales in 2023 when she and William visited a pub to hang out.
“I had a memorable interaction with Catherine,” he said. “She told me she was trying to get her children to speak more French and urged me to keep working hard with my students.”
“Unfortunately, when she announced she was suffering from cancer, I knew we wouldn’t see her in public for a very long time,” he continued.
He added: “Sandringham was the best opportunity for me. So, I booked a trip and went there to show that I was still there to support her and always would be.”

Beauchamp, who said he was inspired by Kate’s work in the early years, paid tribute to her “for the positive impact she has had” on his “life over the years” as he presented her with a scarf he had made for her in Morocco.

Another well-wisher who came to support Kate was 73-year-old Karen McLean, who has been fighting cancer for more than 20 years.
talking to Sky News“We just talked about cancer,” she reflected on her conversation with Kate.
She also shared that Kate hugged her, which she described as a “privilege,” after learning that McLean had made the trip from North Lincolnshire to see her.
MacLean sent a heartfelt message to both Kate and King Charles in which they noted that both senior royals look “very good actually, considering what they’re going through.”

Body language expert Jodi James revealed that William brought a bright smile to Kate’s face while walking.
As she walked past throngs of flower-bearing well-wishers, Kate reportedly showed a fleeting “unsmiling expression” in reference to a possible “tiredness or anxious moment” when she and William were briefly apart.
However, in an intimate exchange, William’s gaze towards his wife seemed to provide immediate comfort.
The shared look changed her demeanor, eliciting what was described as a “flaming smile.”

The Prince and Princess of Wales share a strong bond

James added that this short but meaningful interaction symbolizes the strong bond between the royal couple, and is perhaps the “biggest body language signal of the current relationship.”
She added: “His strongest moment of support here came from a distance, but it was a strong equalizer between them nonetheless, and with this smile in response, Kate came out to greet the fans and looked truly happy and touched.”
