Megan Thee Stallion has obtained a restraining order against imprisoned rapper Tory Lanez until early 2030.
Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Richard Bloom on Thursday granted Meghan’s request for a protective order after the hip-hop star alleged Lanez was harassing her from prison through surrogates while serving a 10-year prison sentence for shooting her in the feet.
The order was granted after a hearing. Michael Hayden, Lanez’s attorney, wrote in opposition to the restraining order request that his client’s imprisonment means “there is no longer any form of present or future threat” to Meghan and there has been no recent direct contact between the two.
A summary of Thursday’s hearing said Bloom found that Meghan’s lawyers had met their burden of proof to extend the temporary restraining order until January 9, 2030.
Hayden did not immediately return a message seeking comment on Friday.
A US judge sentenced Canadian rapper Tory Lanez on Tuesday to 10 years in prison after convicting him of shooting and wounding hip-hop star Megan Thee Stallion.
Megan was granted the temporary order in November after she alleged that Canadian rapper Lanez, whose legal name is Daystar Peterson, was using third parties to continue harassing her online.
The petition says call logs at the California Correctional Institution in Tehachapi show Lanez orchestrated attacks on Meghan’s credibility, including making false claims that gun fragments and the bullet in the case were missing.
In December 2022, Lenz was convicted of three felonies: assault with a semi-automatic firearm; Presence of a loaded, unregistered firearm in the vehicle; Discharging a firearm with gross negligence.
The judge denied a request for a new trial from Lanez’s attorneys, who appealed his conviction.
Megan testified during the trial that Lanez shot her in the foot and yelled at her to dance as she walked away from the SUV after leaving a party at Kylie Jenner’s home in the Hollywood Hills.
Megan, 29, was a huge rising star at the time of the shooting, and her music has soared in popularity since then. She won the 2021 Grammy Award for Best New Artist and had No. 1 singles savagefeaturing Beyoncé, and as a guest of Cardi B’s Wap.
Lenz, 32, began releasing mixtapes in 2009 and has seen his popularity steadily rise, moving on to major label albums. His last two have reached the top ten on the Billboard charts.
