Joseph Parker will be willing to put Oleksandr Usyk in danger to take on Moses Itauma directly after his upcoming fight with Fabio Wardley.
Parker has suggested he is open to fighting Itauma in December if he is successful in beating Wardley later this month.
Itauma is scheduled to enter the fund in December, but is awaiting confirmation of his next opponent.
Parker Wardley fights at the O2 Arena in London, so boxing in two months will be an incredibly quick turnaround for a modern heavyweight.
It would also be a big gamble. If Parker beats Wardley, undisputed world heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk will have to fight him next to retain the WBO title. Boxing Itauma, meanwhile, would risk that position.
However, the New Zealander has thrown his hat in the ring to face Itauma after Wardley.
“I don’t want to be out of the ring for too long. This fight once a year isn’t good enough. I want to fight as much as I can, and if all goes well with Wardley on October 25, put me in the ring again at the end of the year,” Parker insisted.
“I would love to have any fight out there. I know Moses is a great talent. He can only fight whoever is in front of him and he was able to take care of things every time.
“He’s young, he’s strong, he’s fast, and that would be another fight I’d love to take. I’ll take any fight. I’m not even in this boxing game to take my time, pick this fight or pick that fight, I’ll fight anyone.”
Itauma’s devastating first-round knockout win over Dillian Whyte in August sent a warning to the heavyweight division. But Parker is unfazed.
“Listen, he’s a huge threat. He’s a very talented young fighter who dominates everyone in front of him, so of course everyone is going to be asking for big money, but if it’s possible, it will happen,” Parker said.
