England appointed a team that has not changed the second test against India in Edgbaston after Jofra Archer was absent from training due to family emergency.

The 30 -year -old is expected to join the team on Tuesday in preparation for the second test in Edgbaston, where England is looking to strengthen her grip in a five -games series, but Captain Ben Stock will lead a team less than Archer to the battle.

Archer was called to the England squad after the team won an exciting victory for five realistic in the opening match in Headingley last week.

Artcher has not played a cricket test since February 2021 and played his first red ball after four years in a Sussex Championship tie against Durham in Chester-Lee last week.

When the return of the test comes, his teammate in England Chris Wox is excited to return Artcher around the team and believes that his best days are still in front of him.

He said: “Wonderful Jof, wonderful for us as a team. It is a big boost to restore it.

“When Jof is present, he adds a lot to the group, not only as a player but as a person and as a personality. It is clear that he had a difficult journey over the past few years with his injuries, and it is credited with the hard work that he put to return in this position to be able to play the cricket again.

“Really happier for us because I know how difficult it is to pass through long attacks of injuries. We did not have positional tools, but rather just noise here and there could be difficult to be mentally difficult, so he was completely chest and the opportunity to play with England again.

“Maybe his best is in front of him. I am sure he wanders in little to return there and show people what he already did in the eggs.

“We all know how good it is, but it is in an era in which he still has his best in front of him, which is what comes out for him and us.

Wood: It is important to manage expectations with Archer

Speaking to The Sky Sports Cricket Podcast, his Foreign Mark Wood colleague – currently marginalized through the injury – cautiously when it comes to Artcher, when he finally returns.

“I think you have to manage your expectations with him,” Wood said. “Obviously, not building this very bad, then, as you know, if it is not completely true. But it will have a freshness of it, so I can see that first game, I think its speeds will be.

“And I think it will collide well in that first game, because it rushes adrenaline as you get an increase in nervous energy as you want to do it well again. So I think he will take the share, and I think he will do high speed.

“I think the question that distinguishes the line is, can he maintain these speeds and be consistent and play more games? Then this leads to Australia, where we have confidence that he knows that he is able to do that, and we know that he can do that.

“Yes, I would like to say that you have to manage your expectations a little and do not let us advance a lot on ourselves early.”
