US President Joe Biden pardoned about 1,500 people, the largest number ever in a single day.
“The President is commuting the sentences of nearly 1,500 individuals placed on home confinement during the COVID-19 pandemic who have successfully reintegrated into their families and communities,” the White House said in a statement. He also pardoned 39 people convicted of non-violent crimes.
Biden He promised to take “more steps in the coming weeks.”
The move comes less than two weeks after Biden pardoned his son Hunter for his conviction on weapons and tax charges.
