This article contains Spoilers For Star Wars: Skeleton Crew Episode VIII, “The Real Good Guys”.
As “Star Wars: Skeleton Crew” reaches its thrilling conclusion to its first season, “The Real Good Guys,” we finally get a lot of the answers we’ve been longing for, though we still want more. Jude Na Nawood (Jude Law), who may be the most mysterious character in the groupThe episode begins with a lightsaber found at the throats of the children and their parents. However, when adults thank him for bringing the children home safely, he smiles and takes a different approach. He then takes Fern (Ryan Keira Armstrong) and her mother Fara (Kerry Condon) hostage and sends the rest of the families home under the watchful eye of the planet’s security robots, forcing Fern and Fara to help him close the barrier so he can escape. That his pirate crew could descend on Aten, subjugate her, and steal her treasure.
Unfortunately for him, the children he traveled the galaxy with are determined to save their planet, stop him from carrying out his nefarious plan, and bring… TRUE The good guys are in to save the day. While putting their plans into action, Wim (Raffi Cabot Conyers) has a confrontation with Judd, which leads to the latter divulging details about his backstory that ring true, as if this is the first time he’s truly told the truth.
Godi’s Jedi master was killed before he could finish his training
In trying to explain to Wim how the galaxy really works, Judd reveals what seems like a profound truth about himself. He was a child who, like Ezra Bridger from “Star Wars Rebels,” found himself on the street, struggling to survive. Then the Jedi picked him up, told him he had potential, and tried to train him in the ways of the Force, only to be hunted down and destroyed as an enemy of the Republic before he could finish his education. It is not clear whether Judd met this Jedi After Order 66 was already announced Or during the Republic. However, given his age, it seems plausible that he was found during the Republic period by a Jedi in an unknown location, and that his master began training him before returning to Coruscant to seek the Jedi Council’s blessing, only to issue Order 66 before that could happen.
Jude and his mentor could have run away together. However, with the death of his master, his skills in the Force were honed only Enough to be useful, and with nowhere else to go, Judd seems to have chosen to turn to a life of crime. No wonder he fell in with the pirates and made his way across the galaxy this way. Watching his master die, seeing the cruelty in the galaxy, and a life like that taken from you would be enough to make anyone accept this kind of life.
Likewise, it’s hard not to wonder: where would Judd have ended up, had his master not been killed by the Empire’s Jedi hunters, and how he had escaped them himself? We know from episodes of “Star Wars Rebels” and “Obi-Wan Kenobi” that the Inquisitors hunted Force-sensitive adults and children alike, While Darth Vader had no qualms about killing youngsters (As seen in “Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith”). How did Jude manage to escape? Is this a loophole in his story or is he more powerful in power than he lets on? It would be nice to know more about him.
Jude may redeem himself in the future
As the rest of the episode unfolds and Wim and the rest of the kids outmaneuver Jude and the pirate gang, he realizes he can’t win the war, but at that point he surrenders the battle as well. This is a very interesting personality trait. Jude could still use the Force to get his lightsaber back after Wim took control of it and hurt the children, along with their parents and the rest of the Aten, but he willingly gave up the fight entirely when he realized he had been outmatched. Which not so The same Judd who killed Captain Brutus In cold blood. He has a soft spot for these kids and it’s clear that when he says he doesn’t want things to go this way, he means it. He and Wim seem to share a moment before parting ways, as if all can be forgiven here.
Judd’s fate is still a bit of a mystery by the end of “The Real Good Guys,” and it’s possible that he was the one responsible for bringing power back online on Attin, as he was left in the Supervisor’s Tower where the power was still out the last time we saw him. What will happen to him in the end? No one can say for sure at this point, Unless he turns out to be the same Captain Jack who we later see looting Halcyon. I personally hope we get more Skeleton Crew seasons to find out. His adventures with the kids and his pirate adventures were nothing short of entertaining.
