On Friday, a federal judge ordered that the United States government was freed from the graduate student at the former Columbia University, Mahmoud Khalil, from the Immigration Detention Center, where he was detained since early March, while the Trump administration sought to deport him about his role in the pro -Palestinians protests.

Michael Farbarars, who ruled from the bench in New Jersey, said it would be “very unusual” that the government continue to detention from a US legal population, who is unlikely to flee and have not accused any violence.

Upon reaching his decision, Varbayers said that Khalil is probably the risk of flying and “is not a danger to society. The period, the complete stop.”

Khalil ordered the release of a detention center in Louisiana countryside later on Friday. He later said in the clock hearing, which occurred over the phone.

Khalil is not accused of violating any laws during the protests in Colombia. A graduate student worked on international affairs as a negotiator and a spokesman for the student activists.

Among the demonstrators was not arrested, but his emergence in news coverage and preparedness to speak publicly made him a target for critics.

The Trump administration has argued that non -employees who participate in such demonstrations should be expelled from the country because they consider their views hostile to Semitism.

The judge indicated that Khalil has no criminal record and the government did not provide any evidence indicating that he participated in violence or destroying property.
