In the flow age, you can feel that all things are available at all times. Like the history of movies and television, in infinity, it is at our disposal with only a few clicks of one button. It is often overwhelming. It is also not true remotely. Not only many classics are not available in any flow or rental service through digital retailers, but even the modern offers of this era have disappeared. BJ Novak’s “The Premise” is one of the examples of this.
Novak, most of whom will get to know Ryan from the “office”, “ More than just an actor. He is also a writer, producer and director of multiple hats in 2021 when he made the “hypothesis” for FX. A series of selections consists of five episodes, each covering a different and modern issue. Read the official summary of the view as follows:
“The hypothesis” is a bold and exciting selection for half an hour of independent stories about the times we live. The coordinated group of episodes that depend on the character challenge our common moral stories, and the choice of art on the argument, because it communicates with the most important and meaningful issues in the modern era. “
The “hypothesis” was broadcast on FX and was also broadcast on Hulu in the fall of 2021. The exhibition dealt with topics such as guns, identity, social justice, sex, capitalism, revenge, love, fame, social media and even plugs. Unfortunately, if any of this seems interesting to you, it is almost impossible to watch it now. As of this writing, the series is not available on any main service, nor is it available for rent via VOD. It seems as if it was never present. This is more surprising when looking at the talent involved in the show. However, it is not familiar at all in the changing media climate today.
The hypothesis (and still) was a victim of broadcasting wars
When the Covid-19 pandemic arrived in 2020, Hollywood doubled the broadcast significantly. Netflix has already strengthened a flow as a future, but the epidemic has accelerated everything. Unfortunately, after a few years of rapid spending and expansion, Hollywood had a year’s moment of Jesus. In 2023, Disney began withdrawing shows and movies from Disney+ and Hulu EN Collective. Other signs like HBO Max followed their example.
Many of these shows and movies have been produced exclusively for broadcasting, which means that they do not have a Blu-Ray or DVD version to talk about (Which only served to highlight the importance of material media In the era of flow). As for everything? All this was done in an attempt to reduce costs. Although the flowing royalties are a small part of the traditional television, it still costs money to show or movie on a platform. Therefore, removing a chain like “hypothesis” that did not attract many viewers became a measure to save costs.
This exhibition is a bright example of the defects of the broadcasting era. It includes great actors including Lucas Hedges (“Lady Bird”), Kaitlyn Dever (“The Last of Us”), Jon Bernthal (“The Punisher”), Tracee Ellis Ross (“Black-Rish”), Daniel Dae Kim (“Hawaiii Five-6 “), Oncies Jackson JR. Edebiri (“The Bear”), and Boyd Holbroook (“Logan”), to name a few. However, Disney could not justify her keeping Holo.
It is still confusing that Disney did not allow the “hypothesis” to rent on VOD through store facades like Amazon Prime Video or Apple TV, but this is far from the show or the only movie that happened. “Willow”, which was canceled after one season, is not available on Disney+ He does not have a physical version to talk about it.
While companies started rationalizing broadcasting strategies more, with an increasing number of headlines coming to Blu-Ray/DVD, others managed to slip through cracks. This is just a victim of broadcasting wars.
