Israel to join the ceasefire talks despite the “unacceptable” response from Hamas

Israel rejected the changes that Hamas demanded to stop the Gaza proposal as “unacceptable”, but Benjamin Netanyahu said he was still sending a negotiation team to Doha to start indirect talks aimed at stopping the 21 -month war.

The Israeli decision came late on Saturday after a meeting of the Prime Minister’s security cabinet. The meeting was held to discuss Hamas’s response to a proposal designed by Qatar, the United States and Egypt, which calls for a 60 -day ceasefire, the issuance of 28 Israeli hostages, and the start of talks on a permanent end of the conflict.

“The changes that Hamas seek to make in the Qatari proposal have been transferred last night, which is unacceptable to Israel,” the Netanyahu office said in a statement.

Israel said it accepted the original proposal made by the brokers.

Hamas said on Friday that it had provided a “positive” response to the brokers and that it was “completely ready and dangerous about entering a new round of negotiations immediately on the mechanism of implementing this framework.”

It is still not clear what changes or clarifications requested by the Palestinian militants.
