Instagram said on Tuesday that the platform provides its teenage accounting feature, which has additional safety measures for users in India, and is one of its largest markets with more than 350 million users.

The company presented Adolescent accounts last year in the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada and Australia. The accounts that have been deported to Instagram users under the age of 16 have been deported to these new types of virtual restrictions. These adolescents accounts are specially special accounts and have restrictions on messages, content control, reaction limits, time limits, and stillness.

In Meta, creating a safer and more responsibility digital environment is a top priority. Natasha Joj, director of public policy in India, said in a blog post:

Preparing a Teen account means that users under the age of 16 will need permission from parents or guardians to change some settings in their accounts. In addition, the parents of users who are over the age of 16 will have to operate Supervising the teenager account.

Parents can know who their children interact, but they cannot see the message. They can also set the daily use limits and prohibit application within specific hours.

At the content level, Meta only allows users to obtain messages from people who are contacting them. As for the standards of the related persons, the company considers whether the sender is a friend of the future on any of the definition platforms or if it has interacted with DMS before but do not follow each other. Teenagers can also be marked by people who only follow them.

Meta also filters offensive words and phrases from the teenager account automatically. In addition, the company removes content such as fighting or promoting cosmetics products from the exploration and rolle page. Adolescents can choose topics such as football, handicrafts, dance, music, sound, cats, food, drink and computer science to reformulate the exploration page and show content related to the specified categories.

Meta said it also uses ways such as checking the identifier and recording video photos of the video to check the user’s life, as adolescents often lies their age on different platforms.

Last month, India issued a draft rules related to its data protection law and clarifying that companies User’s 18 data cannot be processed with parental approval. Platforms may need additional protection measures if these rules are completed.
