Barcelona striker Robert Lewandowski has been ruled out with a hamstring injury sustained while on international duty – and could miss the next Clásico.

The 37-year-old scored in Poland’s 2-0 win over Lithuania at the weekend, and despite saying after the match that there was no problem, Barcelona have now confirmed the injury.

Barcelona have already seen Ferran Torres and Dani Olmo suffer injuries while outside Spain this week.

The club said: “He will be sidelined, and his recovery time will depend on how the injury develops.”

Lewandowski’s contract with Barcelona expires at the end of this season, and he has been linked to a move away from the Spanish giant.

He is Poland’s all-time international top scorer with 73 goals in 110 international matches.

Spanish media reported that Lewandowski may be out of action for a period ranging from four to six weeks.

Barcelona face La Liga leaders Real Madrid in El Clásico at the Santiago Bernabeu on October 26, while the striker is also set to miss Champions League matches against Olympiacos and Club Brugge.
