Indigo announces 30 additional requests for A350 from Airbus

Pieteer Elbers, CEO of Indigo, announced that 30 additional requests for A350 from Airbus on June 1. The airline also shared a memorandum of understanding with Airbus in New Delhi.

The deal was announced at the 81st annual general meeting (AGM), which occupies between June 1 and June 3.

“By the end of the year, our 45 aircraft will have an extension. This is not even the full fleet of some airlines.”

Last year, in April 2024, Indigo made a strategic decision to bring a wide plane from its fleet by submitting a fixed request to 30 A350-900, with purchase rights for 70 additional aircraft. The original application delivery operations are expected to start in 2027.

The Airbus A350-900 from Indigo will be operated by Rolls Royce. The ability of this plane, along with the efficiency of the TRENT XWB engine, will provide an unprecedented option and communicate with it in the next stage of its wonderful journey of meeting the sophisticated rapid needs of the Indian market and our nation.

In March 2025, Indigo began preparing for long distance operations with temporary six rented body aircraft, which will be completed by 2026.

Meanwhile, Indigo announced that the company has signed an agreement with foreign airlines Delta Air, Air France-KLM and Virgin Atlantic, as the company aims to expand its long services.

Low-cost airlines plan to expand their services to North America, Europe and the United Kingdom (Britain) by taking advantage of the Delta power in North America, France-Lacailim Airlines in Europe and North America, and the presence of Virgin Atlantic in operations in the United Kingdom and Atlantic operations.

“We are especially excited to start our long expansion this summer and communicate with our partners’ networks to provide greater access to Europe and North America. This strategic partnership allows the joint customer’s proposal in a comprehensive connection form of transit, smooth experience and great loyalty, ”said Indigo Pieter Elbers in the official statement.

With these aircraft joining the Indigo fleet, the long -term expansion of the long -term airline will enable more cooperation between Indigo, Delta, Air Franceklm and Virgin Atlantic in the future.
