“India has made yoga, wear and United States billions:” The analyst asks, what do we protect?

India’s cultural exports – yoga, Ayurveda, turmeric, cotton – the best -selling books. But profits, brands and trademarks? That is largely in foreign hands. Financial analyst Hardic Joshi says it is time to face an uncomfortable reality: India has created heritage, but others have work.

In a widespread discussion publication, Joshi pointed to the global re -mobilization of Indian traditions – Yoga retreated in Bali, turmeric in Los Angeles, and Ayurveda skin care of brands that do not contain Indian roots. Behind this trend, the deepest issue lies: India’s failure to protect the brand, brand and profit from what it created.

“We did not hurry from another place,” he wrote. “They were born here, in our homes, our rituals, our land … but somewhere along the way, we forgot to protect them.”

Joshi attributes this gap to two factors: cultural reluctance to market traditions, and a regular delay in building the infrastructure of global intellectual property. While India remained the creator, other countries as operators – advanced uses of turmeric yoga and branded privileges, and brand brand about Indian knowledge.

The publication highlights structural weaknesses. The Patent Law in India (Section 3P) excludes traditional knowledge of protection. Indian systems transmission and lack of Indian systems made easy goals for foreign patents – a problem seen in the American patent on the medical use of turmeric, which was later canceled after India provided evidence of pre -use.

India has since built the digital library for traditional knowledge (TKDL) and institutions such as the Ministry of Iuch, but Joshi argues that deep issues remain. “We are behind the raw materials. It is leading in global margins.”

It frames as more than an economic loss: “It relates to identity, value and respect.” His last question: “What is the next thing that we will lose while spending the world?”
