Family members of Palestinian prisoners and detainees expressed their joy at the release of their family members and friends. Israel released 1,968 people as part of the ceasefire agreement with Hamas.
The Palestinians were released in two groups, the first group was transferred from Ofer Prison in the West Bank and the second from Ketziot Prison in southern Israel.
Hamas released the last 20 hostages alive, after more than two years in captivity.
The coffins of the two dead Israeli hostages were handed over to the Red Cross, but Hamas said it did not know the whereabouts of some of the other 24 deceased hostages.
