Trump, whose predecessor was criticizing Joe Biden Ukraine, has made efforts to stop the war since he took office in January. During his campaign, he promised to end the war during the first 24 hours of the right. He initially blamed Ukraine in the war, but after the failure of the August Summit with Putin in Alaska, he expressed his frustration, saying that the Russian leader had let him down.
James Bayz, a diplomatic editor at the United Nations, from the United Nations headquarters in New York, said the position of Trump is a real change in the American position because what Zelinski asked from the first day is that Ukraine regain all its territory and Trump said it was not possible.
“It seems that we have a complete change in the US position here. We had the big summit between Trump and Putin that occurred in Alaska, and they were talking about a kind of peace deal. Now there is a talk about a military option where Ukraine could regain all its regional region and win the war,” he said.
Bayez added that when Trump’s social job erupted around Ukraine at the United Nations headquarters, many European ministers and abroad were surprised and did not know this change in the United States’ policy towards Ukraine, but they welcomed it.
