Imane Khelif, who won the Olympic Gold for weight in Paris last summer in the female category, will not be able to compete until she is testing.

World Boxing wrote to the Algerian Boxing Union, saying that Khelif will not be eligible to participate in the Einhoven Box Cup next month, or any event in the world of boxing, until this test occurs.

What does the test require?

The PCR test (the reaction of the polymery chain) that will be used by global boxing will determine sex at birth, as all athletes over the age of 18 want to compete required to take one.

In this test, the genetic material is looking for the SRY gene.

SRY is always on Y Chromosome, which plays an important role in determining the characteristics of male sex.

The test can be performed by a swab of the nose, mouth, saliva, or blood.

Global boxing said that athletes who are considered males at birth, as evidenced by the presence of genetic substances, Y (SRY) or with the difference in sexual growth (DSD) where males occur, will be eligible to compete in the male category.

Speaking in March, Khalif said: “I see myself as a girl, just like any other girl. I was born a girl, grew up as a girl and lived throughout my life as one.”
