‘I want to be treated like a miracle’: 19-year-old healthcare app founder loses Shark Tank deal due to overconfidence

In the latest season of Shark Tank India, a 19-year-old founder impressed the sharks with his past success in building several startups. At the beginning of his pitch, Himanshu Rajpurohit, the 19-year-old founder of healthcare app Nexera.Health, claimed that he had already built two companies before and sold them to successfully start a third.

Nexera.Health is a comprehensive enterprise healthcare platform focused on preventive care, diagnostics, and telehealth. The platform also aims to improve employee health and productivity.

Rajpurohit sought funding worth INR 75 lakh for a 1.5 per cent stake in his company. He also mentioned that OYO founder, Ritesh Agarwal, inspired him to start his journey as an entrepreneur at a young age.

Despite an impressive start, the 19-year-old businessman failed to get a deal from the Sharks due to his overconfidence.

The stadium went viral on social media. Needless to say, netizens were outraged by the young founder’s overconfidence and described the show as “hard to watch.” “I want to be treated like a miracle,” one social media user commented. “His arrogance was next level,” another user wrote.

“His webpage was highly misleading. Our partners got AWS, Microsoft, etc. The whole pitch looked like a scam as soon as the site came up. No wonder all the sharks pulled out immediately,” a third user wrote.

Another user said: “It was hard to watch the Nexera show. The pitcher kept honking his horn non-stop. I still don’t know what his product was because I caught it halfway through. Lots of buckbacks.”

While Kunal Bahl wasn’t sure about the app’s appeal to CFOs, the young founder, Vineeta Singh, questioned the viability of its app in a saturated market.

While Rajpurohit didn’t seem to have an answer to these questions, the situation got worse when he said he was participating in the program for mentorship and could have raised investment from elsewhere.

This response angered Lifestuyle co-founder Aman Gupta, who accused Himanshu of suffering from a “successor hangover which is reflected in your third act”. Bahl also noted that the 19-year-old apparently rushed to create a new version of the app just two days before his appearance on Shark Tank India, adding to the Sharks’ suspicions.

Not only this, Emcure Pharmaceuticals CEO Namita Thapar also declined to make an offer, citing lack of differentiation in the app.
