“I met the GOAT of track and field” – Long jumper Quanisha Burks shares her raw reaction to meeting Shelley-Ann Fraser-Pryce at Athlos 2025

American long jumper Quanesha Burks sent a heartfelt message after meeting veteran Jamaican runner Shelley-Ann Fraser-Pryce. This comes amid Alexis Ohanian’s Athlos NYC 2025 conference, where both Burks and Fraser-Pryce were in attendance.

While Fraser-Pryce was called in as the chief guest, Burks took part in the long jump event of the competition. Burks narrowly missed the podium and finished fourth with a mark of 6.15m in the finals.

Just a few days later, Birx shared a post on her Instagram account where she could be seen on the streets, before revealing they had met Fraser Price. Birx also expressed her happiness at knowing the Jamaican, saying:

“I met the goat at track and field!!! 🐐 the one and only @realshellyannfp! And she recognized me!! Like I was so shocked!! It’s so cool to take a picture with the goat and compete on the track together!! Awesome! Okay, bye!”

She also said in the video:

“I just had a surreal moment, I just met Shelley Ann Fraser-Pryce in the hotel lobby, and she asked for a picture of me because I was a fan. She said my name, and she said ‘Quanisha,’ that’s me.”

Notably, Quanesha Burks had a disappointing season in 2025 as she placed eighth in the long jump event at the IAAF World Championships in Tokyo, which was also Fraser Price The final competition of her career. The Jamaican concluded the event with a silver medal in the 4 x 100 meter relay.

Shelley Ann Fraser-Pryce She expressed her feelings when attending Alexis Ohanian’s Athlos NYC 2025, where she was also honored with a tiara by Serena Williams. Speaking in an interview, the veteran Jamaican athlete described the moment as the culmination of her hard work throughout her career.

Fraser-Pryce also added that she never thought of reaching such glory at the end of her track and field career. She said (via FloTrack, 00:15 onwards):

“It’s definitely an emotional feeling, you know, to be able to see the culmination of all the hard work and everything I’ve been able to contribute to this sport, and to be recognized in this way is really cool, and to be there on a night that celebrates women, just women, it’s just as beautiful, and for me when I started in 2007, I never imagined I would be here in this moment.”
