“I get the point now…”: PM Modi tells Nikhil Kamath who to call after an important event

Nikhil Kamath Podcast: Nikhil Kamath, co-founder of Zerodha, in his latest podcast, asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi who to call when he needs to share something important. Prime Minister Modi made his podcast debut on Kamath’s show ‘People by WTF’.

“Imagine you had an event in your life tomorrow that made you very happy, who would you call first?” Kamath asked the Chief Minister.

“I went to Lal Chowk in Srinagar to hoist the tricolour flag. Earlier in Punjab, near Bhagwara, the yatra was attacked, firing was done, many were injured, around 5-6 people were killed and there was an atmosphere of tension across the country. It was difficult at that point to hoist the flag at Lal Chowk as the flag was often burned there. After hoisting the tricolour, we reached Jammu so, for me, my first call from Jammu was with my mother He was happy, and I also thought she must be worried because I went to a place where there was a lot of shooting. I remember my first call was to my mother and today I understand the importance of that call. “I haven’t felt that way since,” he said.

Sharing his own experience after his father’s death, Kamath said he felt guilty for not spending more time with him and prioritizing work instead. He asked Prime Minister Modi if he had also felt something similar after his mother’s death.

“You see, my life was completely different. I had left my childhood home. Even my family had come to terms with the fact that I did not belong there. I also accepted that I was not made for family life. So, my life was like that. There was no “That kind of connection between any of us.”

“However, when my mother turned 100, I went to take her blessings. Now, I am 100, and my mother was uneducated, and had no formal education. I told her as I was leaving that I had to go to work, and asked her if she had anything for me. I was surprised by her answer My mother, who never went to school, said two sentences: Work smart, live pure. I have cherished her words ever since. They made me believe that God gave everything For my mother, if I had stayed with her, I would have learned more of these things. So, I miss her,” PM Modi said, adding that his interaction with his mother was limited as he visited her twice or so every year.

He remembered that his mother never got sick. Every time he visited her she would say: “You must have a lot of work, leave soon.”
