His party says that the detention of Vice President of South Sudan overlooks the peace agreement

His party said on Thursday that the detention of the first vice-President of South Sudan, Rick Machar, under the arrest of the House of Representatives, had actually collapsed the peace agreement that ended the 2013-2018 civil war.

The mission of peacekeeping to the United Nations in South Sudan called for restraint, saying that the country stood on the relapse brigade into a widespread conflict.

“This will not only destroy southern Sudan, but also affects the entire region,” Unmiss said in a statement.

The five -year civil war, which has largely fought on ethnic lines, has left hundreds of thousands of people who died in the country that gained independence from Sudan in 2011.

Anthanil Perrino, deputy head of the Liberation of the People’s Liberation Movement in the opposition (Splm-IO), said that Machar’s detention means that the agreement had “been canceled.”

He said that “effectively brings an agreement to collapse, and therefore the possibility of peace and stability in South Sudan has now been developed at the serious danger.”

William Roto, the neighboring president of Kenya, said at X that he had made a phone call to Kiir on Machar’s arrest and detained him and was sending a special envoy to Juba to try to defuse the situation.

Roto said he consulted with Yori Museveni, President of Uganda, and Abu Ahmed, Prime Minister of Ethiopia – two regional powers on the borders of South Sudan.

The United Nations Human Rights Committee in South Sudan said the arrests were distinguished by the disclosure of the peace process.

“The deliberate targeting of opposition leaders and civilians represents a reckless ignorance of international law and the future of the country,” Yasmine Soka, Chairman of the Committee, said in a statement.

The African Union and the International Government Authority in the regional developmental economic cord also called for restraint.

The South Sudan Army and government spokesperson did not immediately respond to requests to Machar or his party statement on the peace agreement.

The United Nations calls for a commitment to peace

A Reuters journalist said that the army was deploying greatly near Machar’s house on Thursday. On Wednesday, the United Nations reported the fighting between the forces loyal to President Salva Kiir and Reach near Juba.

The African Affairs Office of the United States urged Kier to release Machar and called on South Sudan leaders to “show the sincerity of peace -declared obligations.”

The South Sudan coalition government was slow to enact major provisions of the Peace Agreement, which includes national elections and the unification of its power in one army.

Political analysts say that Kyir is trying to weaken his position by gathering some of the major Machar allies, and called on the Uganda army to secure the capital and the Benjamin Paul -Mail’s name counselor.

They say that Kyir, 73, is Paul Mail, a businessman in the US sanctions list on his links to construction companies accused of money laundering, for his successor. South Sudan said at the time that the blacklist’s decision was Paul Mail dependent on misleading information.

The United Nations had already warned that violence in Nasser was about 450 km northeast of Juba, and that the high hate speech could refer to the civil war on ethnic lines.
