The former Secretary -General of NATO Jeans Stoltenberg was appointed as Minister of Finance in Norway, The government announced on Tuesday.

Stoltenberg presided over the Western Military Alliance for 10 years before step down in 2024 and handed over to former Dutch Prime Minister Mark Retty.

The new Stalltenberg position in the Norwegian Finance Minister is part of the amendment of the cabinet, which the government announced on Tuesday morning, and the collapse of the ruling Norway coalition last week, amid energy directions in the European Union.

Stotenberg, a member of the Norwegian Labor Party, is an old woman in Norway and the political institution in Europe and previously works as Prime Minister of Norway twice, from 2000 to 2001 and from 2005 to 2013.

Stalltenberg will work within the framework of the current Prime Minister in the country, Jonas Jahr Store.

Oil -rich and gas Norway is not part of the European Union, but it works closely with the bloc as a member in the wider European Economic Zone.

He said in a statement that he would return to his free position at the head of the Munich Security Conference as soon as he left public service. Stalltenberg commented that “he is deeply honored because he was asked to help my country at this critical stage.”

He added: “After I carefully thought about the current challenges we face, I decided to accept Prime Minister Store’s request to be Minister of Finance. I will return to the Munich Security Conference and to my other responsibilities when my state ends. I am grateful for the decision to release me temporarily from my duties during my country’s service again .

The Labor Party, or Arbeidarpartiet, is expected to rule, alone until the new parliamentary elections will be held in September.
