A tragic accident occurred on Sunday in Mandi district of Himachal Pradesh, when rocks from a mountain fell on a taxi, killing a woman and injuring her husband and the driver.
The accident occurred on the Chandigarh-Manali Expressway near 4 Mile area in Mandi, PTI reported.
The taxi was carrying a tourist family visiting the area from Mumbai for vacation.
Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Sagar Chand in Mandi confirmed the tragic accident that claimed the life of a woman named Priya. Her husband and the driver were injured in the accident.
Priya lost her life at the accident scene due to the severe impact of falling rocks.
The injured were quickly transferred to a nearby hospital to receive treatment. The driver, who sustained serious injuries, was referred to PGI Chandigarh for further medical attention.
In a separate incident, a tragic accident occurred on Friday in Ghatkopar, west of Mumbai, where a speeding car hit five pedestrians, leading to the death of a woman and injury to four others.
As reported by ANI quoting Mumbai Police, “A speeder ran over five people in Chirag Nagar, Ghatkopar West, Mumbai, killing a woman and injuring four others. The injured were immediately shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment. The speeder, Uttam, has been arrested by the police.” Baban Kharrat and the car was confiscated.”
The deceased has been identified as 35-year-old Preeti Ritesh Patel, a resident of Ghatkopar West.
The individuals injured in the Ghatkopar West accident have been identified as 23-year-old Reshma Sheikh, 27-year-old Marifa Sheikh, 38-year-old Tova Azhar Sheikh and 28-year-old Muharram Ali Abdul Rahim Sheikh.
According to the district deputy commissioner of police (DCP), the accident occurred around 6:30 pm when a speeding vehicle transporting cold drinks from Narayan Nagar lost control. The driver deviated from his lane and hit pedestrians on the road.
Eyewitnesses reported that the public arrested the driver immediately after the accident and handed him over to the Ghatkopar police.
