Watch: A large earthquake off Russia leads to large -scale tsunami warnings

Many Hawaii residents interrogated official advice to leave coastal areas, after a strong earthquake near Russia caused Tsunami to reach the American state and other parts of the Pacific Ocean.

The Tsunami Warning Center said that several feet were recorded in the Maui, Oua and Hawaii Islands on Tuesday evening.

The center later reduced a tsunami warning to a tsunami, although warning was still possible.

Governor Josh Green hit an optimistic tone, saying he had not yet seen a “wave of results” in the state.

He had previously advised people in low areas to move to higher land, and indicated that the roads were busy as people evacuated their homes.

Other regions of the American West Coast – including California and Alaska – have made their own settings while under the Tsunami consulting less than the National Tsunami (NTWC).

Tsunami warning indicates that large -scale floods are expected or occur, and the nearby coast must sit to high and internal. The consultant means that there is a possibility of strong currents or dangerous waves, while urging people to stay outside the water.

Officials warn that although the immediate danger caused by floods may have passed in a field of Hawaii, the danger of strong currents can last for several hours or days after the initial waves.

Dr. Lucy Jones, the earthquake scientist Dr. Lucy Jones, expected that the waves could harm the ports and the properties of the waterfront in Hawaii – and perhaps in California – but will not cause a catastrophic loss of lives in the Americas.

Dr. Jones indicated that the longest waves may be several feet in Hawaii, but compared, they reached 42 feet (13 meters) during a fatal tsunami in Japan in 2011.

Many Hawaiian residents left no chances.

The residents of Maui, who was destroyed by forest fires two years ago, was among those who moved to higher land while warning in place.

David Dorn BBC told that he was not strange to tsunami warnings, after he lived a mass of the ocean in the coastal city of Kii, in Maui, for 30 years. But he and his wife were treating this differently.

“We are trying to take them all seriously, but most people take them a little.”

He and his wife had been evacuated to a higher land and were planning to spend the night in their truck in an internal shopping center.

Mr. Dorn said that before leaving his house, he had transferred his electronics to the role of their Alawite, in the hope that even if the water of the sea was penetrated, he would not reach the rafters.

His greatest interest was the roads, especially if the electric columns fell and prohibited.

“Traffic is always a problem, and it gets worse. It is in its worst cases in any emergency such.”

Roger Blazanton, a BBC resident, told “like New York City at the present time.”

He added: “I was going to the grocery store, but I think I may have to skip the grocery and get out of here.”

With Maui ready to arrival the waves, shelters have been opened and water facilities were opened to protect them from possible damage.

10 years have passed since Felicia Johnson, a lifetime, fled on the island, from the last tsunami. Late Tuesday, she found herself moving to a higher ground.

Mrs. Johnson, 47, had seen the water level receded and then rises dramatically – she usually described a style with tsunami.

“It is a frightening strange thing,” she shouted, while filling her truck to spend a night with her family and friends in the mountains.

I compared the situation with the fire that struck the town of Loutina two years ago, destroying the island and its society.

“All I can do is leaving the house. I am leaving, so I’m definitely worried about something coming. But I mean, what can you cry?

“We have passed this with the fires, there was no warning, and it was very destructive. Now, we have a lot of warning that if we do not go, this is our mistake.”

The waves of up to 5.7 feet (1.74 meters) were registered in Cahulwi, Maui, and one of 4.9 feet was recorded in Heilo, Hawaii.

Emergency management authorities have warned people against staying outside the coastal evacuation area until all clarity is given.

In California, the first waves were relatively small. A 3.6 -foot wave was registered in Crescent City, in the far north of the state, with 1.6 feet smaller waves of Arena Cove, north of San Francisco, and more than the coast.

The National Weather Service (NWS) has warned of the potential upper summits in one section of the Pacific Coast near Port Saint Louis, almost in the middle of the road between San Francisco and Los Angeles.

The NWS LOS Angeles office published: “It does not return to the arrogant areas where the water recedes, but it can return several times during the next 24 hours, and the first wave may not be the largest.”

The agency’s office in San Francisco said that it records tidal fluctuations up to 2.5 feet in less than 15 minutes and advised: “It is just a good idea to stay away from water today!”

In Manhattan Beach in Los Angeles Province, however, some were relaxing about the threat.

George Megia, 25, and his cousins, was filling in their long panels on exposed when his mother called.

She said, “Did you see a huge earthquake and perhaps there will be a tsunami?” I was like, “No, I was in water!”

Instead of speed, the trio sat in his car and looked at the ocean, and talks about a return to the tsunami waves and its ride.

The blue tsunami evacuation is located many roads along the western western coast.

In Canada, the heights of the wave have so far been less than 1 feet.

In Alaska, a tsunami warning to Western Alevin – the island’s closest to Russia – to a consultant was reduced.

A Tsunami consultant was canceled on the island of Guam, an American region, about 2,500 km south of Tokyo. Al -Jazeera officials said there was no additional threat to the waves, but they warned of strong currents during the next day.

The earthquake that sparked tsunami is one of the most powerful modern era. Since modern earthquakes began in 1900, only five earthquakes were stronger.
