Hamas pledged to the hostages, but requires changes to the ceasefire plan in Gaza in the United States

Hamas responded to the suggestion of the ceasefire in the United States by saying that he was ready to release 10 lively Israeli hostages and 18 dead hostages in exchange for a number of Palestinian prisoners, while asking for some amendments to the plan.

The group repeated its demands for permanent engineering, the full Israeli withdrawal from Gaza and ensuring the continuous flow of humanitarian assistance. Nothing of these in the deal on the table.

This was neither explicit rejection nor a clear acceptance of the American conditions, which Washington accepted that Israel had accepted.

Hamas said it had provided its response to the US draft of Wittakouf, the US President Donald Trump’s envoy to the Middle East.

In a statement, Witkoff said: “I have received Hamas’s response to the US proposal. It is completely unacceptable and does not only take us back.

“This is the only way we can close the ceasefire deal for 60 days in the coming days.”

A statement from the office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said: “While Israel agreed to the outdated lines in Wittouf to issue our hostages, Hamas continues to abide by its refusal.”

Hamas, a terrorist group banned in the United States, the United Kingdom and the European Union, said it insisted on a “permanent ceasefire” and “complete withdrawal” of the Israeli forces from the Gaza Strip.

The group called for a continuous flow of aid to the Palestinians living in the pocket, and said it would release 10 living hostages and the bodies of 18 fatal hostages against a “agreed number” of Palestinian prisoners in Israel.

But Hamas now finds itself in the most complex and difficult situation it has faced since the war began.
