Manchester City midfielder Rodri has suffered a setback and is unlikely to be completely fit even after the September International Break, according to director Pep Guardiola.
It was absent from international Spain, which won the balloon or last year, the majority of the 2024-25 campaign for the city due to an injury in the front cruciate ligament that suffered from it in September.
Rodry was a huge Miss, where City slipped to third in the Premier League without the midfielder, and he went to the cup for the first time in nine years under Guardiola.
He returned to work in the penultimate Premier League match against Bournemouth as a substitute, while he was part of the club’s club during the club’s World Cup this summer in the United States.
The 29-year-old came on ASA Sub in the past 16 against Hillal, but was withdrawn during the 4-3 defeat due to the thigh injury.
Guardiola said: “Rodri is improving, but he was seriously injured in the last match against Hillal,” Guardiola said.
“It has been training better in the past few days. We hope after international break, it will be really fit.”
In his last match before the season, City Balremo will take over on Saturday evening, before the opening match of the Premier League season against the wolves next Saturday.
Then they face Tottenham and Brighton before the internationals in September.
Guardiola added: “We hope in these games to play in some minutes, but the important thing is that he does not suffer from pain because we do not want Rodri to return to injury. We will try desperate to avoid this.”
“He was training on the last two sessions with us and this is good.”
