Pep Guardiola, Manchester City president, praised his team’s flexibility and defended his approaches in 1-1 draw with Arsenal on Sunday.
Cityzens seemed to control after Erling Haland put visitors in the first half, before Gabriel Martinelli fell at a time stop to save a point for hosts.
Speaking after the match, Guardiola said: “We played difficult games this week – Manchester United and in the Champions League – and today we played against a strong team.
“Hats to our team for resilience. It is very difficult when you are not effective with high pressure, it is always difficult to accumulate.
“We have made some transformations. I think the result is fair. Arsenal was generally better.
“Since the transfer window has ended, teamwork was from the top.
“It was required today to be everything – we have defended the corners well. We will take this point, we have to improve but this is what it is.
“We are tired incredibly. The match was very emotional, and then the day of recovery, we have four or five hours to travel to London. Arsenal fought in two last Premier League title and reached the semi -finals of the Champions League, so it is very difficult.
“We had a lot of fatigue with many players. We also have a lot of injuries.”
When interrogating the decision to turn into five in the back, Guardiola defended his choices.
He added: “We do not try to be like this, but when the opponent is better, we defend a deeper and counter -attack, but this is not our intention.
“I prefer not to do this, but you have to do it at this level. I eat a point and in some games we must adjust it.”
