Google faces $ 425 million to collect user data despite the privacy control items

“This decision misunderstands how our products work,” Google spokesman Jose Castanida told Reuters. “Our privacy tools give control of their data, and when they stop the allocation, we honor this choice.”

Castaida said the company is planning to appeal the ruling.

The collective lawsuit was filed in July 2020, accusing Google of continuing the collection of data for the users who were running Privacy controls.

During the experiment, Google said that the data collected was “non -personal, a pseudonym, stored in separate, installed and coded locations.”

The company claimed that the data was not related to Google accounts for users or the identity of any user.

“It is clear that they are very happy with the ruling that the jury has returned,” Lawyer David Boys, who represented the users, said in a statement.
