They deliver subtle audio upgrades that bring out the best in your music, including a warm sound signature that pays special attention to fine details like instrument attacks, smooth vocals, dialogue, and effects. Their bass response is tight and balanced, while still offering some fun.

Just as importantly, the XM6 offers class-leading noise cancellation, even when I tested it against previous champions, QuietComfort Ultra from Bose. This is largely thanks to its quick response, which is set on a dime to respond to low, medium and even high-frequency noise and dampen it to almost nothing, especially with some music playing. Its transparency mode is almost as impressive, and it looks natural enough to wear for hours at a time.

The headphones also offer plenty of features, from adjustable multi-band EQ within the loaded app, to specialties like the ability to hold your hand along the right earcup for temporary transparency mode — perfect for ordering a drink on a flight without having to interrupt the movie.
