The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Germany defended the decision to classify the AFD as a right -wing extremist, after sharp criticism from the White House.
The Vice President of the United States accused JD Vance “Birrocrats” of rebuilding the Berlin Wall, and Foreign Minister Marco Rubio criticized the appointment as “tyranny in camouflage.”
In an extraordinary step, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs answered directly on Rubio on X, writing: “We have learned from our history that right -wing extremism needs to be stopped.”
The Intelligence Agency, which made the classification “AFD, prevailing for people -based and lineage”, contradicts the “free democratic system” of Germany.
AFD ranked second in the federal elections in February, and won 152 seats in a 630 -seat parliament of 20.8 % of votes.
The agency, Bundesamt Für Verfassungsschutz (BFV), was already ranked AFD as a right -wing extremist in three eastern states where its popularity is higher. Now, this appointment has been extended to the entire party.
AFD aims to exclude some population groups from equal participation in society. He said in a statement. The agency specifically said that the party does not consider citizens “mostly Muslim countries” as equal members in the German people.
The leaders of the joint party, Alice, Idel, and Teno Ciopala, said that the decision “had clear political motives” and “a severe blow to German democracy.”
“The way in which an authoritarian, dictatorship state, its parties are treated.”
The new classification gives authorities larger AFD monitoring authorities using tactics such as phone interception and confidential agents.
Marco Rubio wrote on X. “This is not a democracy – it’s tyranny in camouflage.”
But the German Foreign Ministry has returned.
“This democracy,” wrote, a direct response to the expense of the politician x.
The publication said that the decision was taken after a “comprehensive and independent investigation” and could be resumed.
The statement concluded that “we have learned from our history that right -wing extremism should be stopped.”
JD Vance, who met Weidel in Munich nine days before the elections and took advantage of a letter at the Munich Security Conference to show support for AFD, said the “bureaucrats” were trying to destroy the party.
He wrote on x.
The Berlin Wall, which was built in 1961, separated east and west of Berlin nearly 30 years ago during the Cold War.
This new appointment sparked calls to ban AFD before voting next week in Parliament, or Bundestag, to confirm conservative leader Friedrich Mirz as a consultant. It will lead an alliance with socialist Democrats in the center (SPD).
Lars Klingil, the leader of the Democratic Democratic Party, who is expected to become a deputy advisor and Minister of Finance, said that although there is no hasty decision, the government will consider a AFD ban, said Lars Kleanjeel, leader of the Democratic Democratic Party, who is expected to become a deputy advisor and Minister of Finance.
“They want a different state, and they want to destroy our democracy. We must take it seriously,” he told the Bild newspaper.
