French cinema star Gerard Depardio was convicted by the Paris Court on Tuesday for sexual assault on two women working on a movie group that was playing his role in 2021. He received a suspended sentence for 18 months.
The sentence was in line with what the Prosecutor requested after the trial of Mr. DePardieu for a period of four days in March. The actor also ordered him to put him in the list of sexual crimes.
Women – a group of monasteries and assistant director – worked on the movie “Les Volets Verts”, a French movie 2021 starring Mr. DePardieu.
The 54 -year -old decoration collection, who agreed to publicly recognize her, said that Mr. Depardieu grabbed her with her waist and pulled her towards him while sitting. Then he closed it between his legs and ran his hands on the buttocks, genitals and breasts while he was mutating the air.
The 34 -year -old assistant director said that the actor touched her breasts and buttocks on three occasions as she walks from his dressing room to the group in Paris. She did not agree to identify it publicly.
Mr. DePardieu, 76, denied sexual assaults in both cases, though His story turned about the decoration collection.
Initially, he said he grabbed her waist to “prevent slipping”, but later he said that he “to attract her attention” so that he could warn her to do what he considered a bad job. He said he did not run his hands on her body.
As for the second assistant, Mr. DePardieu said that her story was impossible, because he did not travel alone without his personal guard and was unable to walk so far.
He said that he was not “the vulgar, rude, and dictionary mocking people” that were filmed as in the media. “I respect people. I love helping people,” he said to the court in March.
But he also said that he was of a different generation, and that his personality related to fitness and not apologize was suitable for the current era.
From the start, it was clear that the experience was more than a sexual attack by a most famous France movie star. What happened in the court, instead, was part of the long -awaited account about the country’s obsession with seduction, and the incomplete extension of its artists and Stalling in France #Metoo movement.
Mr. DePardieu is among the greatest actors in his generation, and a championship in more than 230 films, including “Card Green” and “Cyrano De Bergerac”.
He has been at the discussion center in France on the #Metoo movement since his arrival in the country in 2017, with sexual assault accusations against him. He strongly denied these accusations, and was publicly defended by the prominent French people, including prominent actors and even the president.
More than 20 women accused him of sexual assault, most of them by talking to French news, especially the MediaPart investigation site. Six of these women filed complaints with the police – two of them were dropped because they exceeded the statute of limitations.
This was the first case against Mr. DePardieu for trial.
