George Russell anxiously admitted about “baked” issues with the Mercedes 2025 after a disappointing show in the Grand Emilia Romania race.
The British published the worst result in the Grand Prix for this season until he finished seventh in IMOLA, after he fell back from third place on the network.
While the bad strategic call and shouting at the time of the virtual safety car played a role in the result, Russell left a pesticide due to the general lack of speed in warm Italian conditions.
He said Sky SPORTS F1: “The trends are completely clear. When it’s hot, we are slow. When the atmosphere is cold, we are fast. This was the same last year.
“We were doing everything with preparation to try to find solutions, but it is clear that there is something more essential in the car.”
Russell is the fourth place in the driver’s ranking, 47 points from the leader Oscar Bayastiri, but he challenged the lower pace for the Australian McLaren team – and Red Bull is often scored – four platforms in the opening rounds of the season that preceded Emola.
He continued: “It is not the first race for this season, as we were slower than Ferrari, until the most slowed or the same pace Williams, but we somehow managed to obtain a result on these occasions.
“But today we were very lucky to finish the P7 honestly.”
“We need to think quickly.”
Although his team -mate, Russell Kimon Antonelle, retired from his first race at home with his suffocation, Max Versaben’s lack of help in Red Bull, and Ferrari’s general shortage of speed, Mercedes means second in the Championship Championship, although already 132 points of McLaren.
The performance of Mercedes last season was better in colder circumstances, as Russell and his former colleague Lewis Hamilton shared two wins each, but often they are fighting to match the first place in the warmer events.
Silver Arrows inserted the front suspension and suite upgrades in IMOLA that there was very big optimism before the event, but in the end it didn’t help.
Rice added: “I will not say that we have run out of ideas to solve the tires, but as I said, it is a kind of bakery in the car.
“You look at Ferrari a few years ago, they used to be fast in the qualifiers and slow race. They have now done a jungle, and they don’t really understand the reason for this.
“Therefore, we need to find a better compromise, especially before the next race. We are approaching the summer and does not bode well for us. We need to think quickly.”
