With the return of the magical weekend in the Super League to Newcastle for 2025, there is no happy player like Geordie Sam Luckley residing in Hull KR.
Luckley lived his dream in 2022, where Salford Red Devils Under the Sticks at St James’ Park and gave him the full Alan Shearer celebration.
It was a moment when Luckley did not think that he would get it when he grew up in his city that was watching Newcastle United, but he took both hands when he arrived.
After a year in Leeds, Magic Weekend returns to Newcastle for the eighth time, and Luckley is ready to restore “one of the best days in his life” if he can register when he takes Hull KR on Salford Red Devils, Live on Sky Sports On Saturday, May 3.
“I am (pleased to return to Newcastle). Sky Sports.
“My childhood’s dream was to play here in St. James Park and I was lucky enough to do it several times now.
“Every time you improve and better, I have set this calendar for some time.
“I think this was one of the best days of my life.
“Recording this after the match comes to see my family and everyone cries. This means more than just myself.
“My mother and my father are Geordies and come to football all the time, so it is one for all of us.
“I was in fact a good soccer player, but I kept bigger and slow, so I am happy that I can play here in a different sport, but I was not guessing that it would be my diet.”
While the trip to Newcastle is a prominent weekend in the Luckley calendar, with Hull KR Top of the Table and does not look like it slowed down, he knows that all eyes will be at hand when the weekend rolls.
“We are in good condition at the present time. But for us, it is only about staying modest and keeping our feet on the ground,” Lacley added.
“It is a long season and it is a long year, so we cannot think about it and start thinking about the finals and all this kind of things.
“The ladder is very narrow at the present time, every competitive game.
“For us, this is a professional job and a business trip.
“This is what we will look to do.”
