Fran Kirby announced her retirement from international football – just two days before the Lioneses’ Euro 2025 team confirmed.
The 31-year-old Brighton midfielder was deleted from the match day match in Sarina and Jumman to defeat Tuesday 2-1 in Spain, and her teammates told the team that she retired immediately after the match.
Kirby ends her career in her lion with 77 capsules and 19 goals, after England represented in four main championships including the AUR 2022 campaign.
Writing on Instagram“After I was in the England team since I was 21 years old, it’s time to close this chapter of my life. I didn’t want this day to come, but I cannot tell you how proud of my pride,” Kirby said.
“It was the greatest honor to represent my country, which I only dreamed of as a little girl. I played with incredible players, worked with some amazing managers, and played in some amazing championships and I have some unparalleled memories.
“My journey was full of climbing, landing, setbacks and achievements. It has been said and described enough about that, but regardless of anything that was thrown into my face, I want to know all that every time I spend an emblem of England, I was given 100 percent.
“Every phone call, I accepted my role and did everything required for the team. I wanted to win England. I was always there to help England win.
“My mother dreamed of me to represent my country, and I am very proud that I was able to do that and play in front of all of you. I will never forget the noise when my name is read on a field.
“I was chosen for the first time when I was playing in WSL 2, I played a role in the changing World Cup for the game, won a bronze in 2015, created some memories of life. Starting with every game and winning the euro in 2022, it became a real dream.”
