The majority of a committee from the Brazilian Supreme Court judges voted on Thursday to condemn former President Jayyar Bolsonaro by trying to turn in his position despite his 2022 election defeat, a ruling that would deepen political divisions and likely to provoke a violent profit from the United States government.

The extreme right -wing politician who rules Brazil was convicted between 2019 and 2022 on five charges by three members of a committee of five offers. The ruling caused Carmen Lucia on Thursday, one day after another judge, Louise Fox did not agree, and a voice to create the former president of all charges.

There is only one pending justice for voting. Once all the five judges vote, the committee will decide the Polsonaro penalty, which may reach contracts in prison.

The 70 -year -old former president is currently being arrested at home. His lawyers said that they would appeal the ruling to the full Supreme Court, which includes 11 judges.

Bolsonaro, who denied committing any violations, did not attend the court and sent his lawyer.

Judge Alexander de Morais, who oversees the case, said on Tuesday that Bolsonaro was the leader of the coup plot and a criminal organization, and he voted in favor of his conviction.

Earlier on Thursday, Lucia also voted for Bolsonaro’s conviction of the organized crime in terms of attempted the alleged coup.

Despite his legal problems, Bolsonaro is still a strong political player in Brazil.

The extreme right -wing politician was previously banned from running for positions until 2030 in a separate case. He is expected to choose a heir who is likely to challenge Lula da Silva next year.

The rulers of the legislators in Bolsonaro may push for some amnesty through Congress.
