Baez claimed they had taken cocaine and whiskey together but denied selling the drugs to Payne. Furthermore, Baez reportedly faces between four and fifteen years in prison for these charges. He reportedly told TMZ “He feels he is being treated unfairly as a murderer and believes he is being used as a scapegoat.”

Baez worked at the CasaSur Palermo hotel in Buenos Aires, where Liam Payne died in October. Four other defendants, including three hotel employees and Payne’s friend, were recently charged in connection with the musician’s death.
