Football player Baylor Alex Foster was killed at Mississippi

A Baylor University of Football The player died early Wednesday morning after the police said he was found in a car suffering from multiple wounds in his hometown in the Mississippi state, which local officials say had seen a rear increase in a violent crime.

Alex Foster, a 18 -year -old defensive man, was later recognized as a victim of the early morning fire in Greenville.

“We were saddened by the unexpected loss of Alex Foster, a beloved teammate and friend and a dear part of the Baylor family,” Vice President and Director of Athletics MacB. Football coach Dave Aranda said in a joint statement issued by the school.

“Our thoughts and prayers with the Alex family and all those who loved him. At this time of deep sadness, we are based on the power of our faith and the fixed love of the Baylor community. Our direct focus is on the support of the Alex family and his teammates through this destructive loss. Alex will forever be part of the University of Baylor.”

Aranda later released a separate statement on X, saying that the Baylor community had left “destroy” due to the death of Foster.

“Alex was a beloved member of our Baylor family, and we were destroyed from this loss. On his time in Baylor, he had a long -term effect on all of us on the program. Our hearts are broken, and our calls with his family, friends and all those who loved him deeply.”

In response to the death of the shooting, the mayor of Greenville, Erik de Simons, spoke about the recent “increase” of crimes affecting society.

He said in a brief video speech: “Over the past few weeks, our society has been deeply shaken by an increase in violent crimes, including multiple shootings, an increase in violent crimes, arms violence, and meaningless killings.” Simons added that after a vote on Wednesday, the city will implement the curfew immediately from 9 pm to 6 in the morning “until another notice.”

“It is to protect the life and welfare of every resident in Greenville.”

Foster joined Baylor in 2024 as one of Mississippi The best 20 prospects and defense man ranked 69th in the country. He did not see any procedure last season after he took his first year.
