Flight of India to London crashes in Ahmedabad

Air flight to London Gatwick in Ahmed Abad in western India was broken shortly after take off, according to the local police.

Police in Gujarat told the Financial Times that the plane crashed “within 10 minutes” of taking off from the airport in Ahmed Abad.

Local media said that 242 people were on board, including two pilots and 10 members of the cabin.

“The AI171 trip, which operates Ahmed Abad-Lindon Gatwick, participated in today’s incident, June 12, 2025. At this moment, we check the details,” Air India published X.

The Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner and sent its last signal after just seconds, according to Flightradar24.

Tata, who seized the airline from state control in 2022, said it could not comment immediately.

Tata promised to update the carrier, and in 2023, Air India agreed to a deal with Boeing and Airbus to buy 470 new aircraft, one of the largest requests in the history of aviation.

The CEO of the airline, Campbell Wilson, told FT in 2023 that the update plan was “the biggest shift in flying … and I am aware.”

Gatwick Airport did not immediately respond to a request for suspension.
