Flags of the Consumer Affairs Department more than 3000 complaints on the GST Cut have not been transferred to buyers

The Ministry of Consumer Affairs has informed the grievances against companies for not being transferred to the benefits of commodity and services tax discounts for consumers, with more than 3487 complaints and inquiries so far.

“Among these, nearly 68 % of complaints, while the rest are inquiries. About 1700 complaints have already been sent to the Central Council for Taxes and indirect customs (CBIC),” said Nidi Khaar, Consumer Affairs Secretary, to Business today.

Khare added that e -commerce platforms, consumer panels, and processed food products are among the first sectors that attract complaints after starting new commodity tax rates and services. Consumers reported cases of good commodity tax and services that are imposed and not implementing the reported tax cuts.

Some complaints are related to discounts on e -commerce platforms that do not fully reflect the decrease in commodity and services tax, some of which indicate that the products have been distinguished, which raises feeding fears.

To simplify the recovery, the ministry established the GST complaint category for the National Consumer Assistant Line (NC). The ministry closely tracks suspended cases and warned that they may start collective procedures according to unfair commercial practices if companies continue to reject the benefits of GST for consumers.
