Musicians were last seen in the Mexican city of Renosa, near the American border

The Mexican authorities said that five musicians disappeared in the Mexican city of Renosa, near the American border, who were killed by suspects.

Nine alleged members of the famous Gulf Cartel were arrested on suspicion of a murder, according to Irfeng Barius Mogika, the General Prosecutor of the Mexican State of Tamoulibas.

Parius Mogika said the musicians – known as Grupo Fugitivo – were kidnapped while traveling to a special event on May 25. Soon after, their relatives reported receiving the ransom demands.

Investigators work to establish a motivation for killings.

The musicians were between 20 and 40 years old, and they were often played at local parties and dances.

Nine firearms and two cars were seized during the arrests.

Grupo Fugitivo has made a set of Mexican regional music, a type that includes Corridos – songs that were historically used to honor drug gangs and leaders.

It is not immediately clear whether the group is targeted because of its music, or was arrested in the violence that has been suffering from Tamolibas for a long time, as the Gulf cartel has a strong presence.

The Trump administration has identified the Gulf Cartel, along with many other criminal groups, which is a “global terrorist organization”.

In January, the American embassy in Mexico issued a 4 -level consultant consultant, and warned its citizens against traveling to many Mexican cities, including Renosa.

He pointed to the danger of “crime and kidnapping” and “increasingly repeated weapons battles in the city and around it.

The US State Department said: “The armed members often armed with patrols in the state’s areas and work without punishment, especially along the border area of Renosa to Nuwevo Larado.”

“In these areas, the application of local law has a limited ability to respond to crime accidents.”
